What can the extension see?
Only the sites on your list, through Chrome’s own redirect rules. It never reads your pages. It keeps just the site’s name, so the island knows where you came from. No account.

That’s expected for extensions installed outside the Web Store. Keep the unzipped folder where it is; the extension runs from it.
Updating from an older version
Unzip the new download, replace the files in your installed folder, then press the reload arrow on the extension in chrome://extensions.
